This afternoon, Fernando, Val and I went to Petco Park for the Southern California Exhibition Series game featuring San Diego State vs. UC Davis.
The starting pitcher for the San Diego State Aztecs was Olympic bronze medalist and All-American Stephen Strasburg.
We were hoping for a no-hitter, but the first batter he faced had an infield single. The second hitter grounded out, but advanced the runner. Then Strasburg walked a guy. With all the hype, we started to get disappointed.
But that did not last long and we had the opportunity to see one of the greatest college pitchers ever. This guy was phenomenal and the Aztecs won 14-0.
The Aztecs had 14 runs on 15 hits and one error. The UC Davis Aggies had no runs on 5 hits and 2 errors. Strasburg got the win and his record is now 6-0. It is only a matter of time before he is a premier major league player, but we will never forget the day we saw him pitch at Petco Park.
